To make this clear, I will put up some images of my working place.
Is it beautiful?? I guess it is.
As all of you know, to be a good in-house guide we all need to undergo a series of training. I remember a few months back when I worked here I got trained and tested out before I am allowed to guide a tour group. But after 9 months of working there, I continued my further study at Alpha College of Technology. After I done my first semester, during the semester break I worked here again. But during this time, the company had an upgraded facility and improved tour guiding. Therefore, I had to undergo another training before approved to guide the tourist arriving. This time, I remembered very well.
On 7th of February 2014, I was brought to a workshop called The Foundry in this Visitor Centre for training. What I enjoy in workshop was that I could experience the process of making a piece of pewter accessories but as it was a training so I can't bring home my masterpiece. Never try, never know. What I had done in this workshop is a piece of moulded roses with love. Let's see the picture of it below.
I guess the craftmanship on this pewter piece is not that good as I am a beginner just giving it a try. After all, this piece is unique and it was the one and only one piece of pewter accessory in the world. ( Because it was made by me ). Once I had completed the workshop, I took a photo of this and sent it to a friend who always chat and talk with me and try to ask for some opinion regarding this. Who is that friend? I could only show the picture here.
Due to privacy and according to Personal Data Privacy Act 2010, I can't reveal her personal information here. She commented on the masterpiece that I had made and what comes out in my mind was I could make another piece of pewter accessory with her name. In this case, her name is Joey. So, on the next day I made something like this.
I know it came out not as well as those experienced pewtersmith but after all this was another piece of free hand design of her name without any moulds or patterns. She really appreciate my piece of work. As all of you know that I mentioned just now this was the part of job training therefore I could not bring this piece of artwork home and gift it to her. Anyway, I promised her that if she ever visit KL I will take her to this workshop and she will make her own pewter accessory herself while all the expenditure will be handled by me. One day, I hope she can really turn out so that she would experience what I had enjoyed here.
